The Lindell and the UAD models of the 2254 are excellent and you cant go wrong with either. I'm also a fan of the Lindell 254E, which has its design roots with Mr Neve. Its very clean and doesnt really have any harmonics to color the sound. The DDMF 6144 is DDMF's take of a modern EQ design of Rupert Neve (the 5033). Its of the modern era of large format consoles providing the user Filters/EQ/Comp/Gating per channel. The VXS was built to be extremely transparent and doesn't impart the harmonics that a vintage Neve 8000 series would provide. This is far from the classic Neve sound and has nothing to do with Rupert Neve and his designs.

It was formerly at Skywalker Ranch (it was replaced by a Neve 88RS) before landing at the studios of Brainworx. That bx_console N have gate and comp is extra?bx_console N is a model of a Neve VXS console that actually has a pedigreed history. So if one can find other parts, then why not roll a custom channel strip?Īlso isn't a "Neve channel" basically just pre + eq? The bx_console N is pretty nice, but so is the DDMF 6144 EQ. I would probably roll my own channel strip.

I personally know a few pro guys that swear by it. Not really a emu of an SSL, but its based off the SSL 4K workflow. That's pretty authentic.Īnother plug to consider is the Metric Halo Channel Strip.

In fact, its the same code from a digital SSL console. SSL Duende: Amazing plug, but its not a 4K model. However, i can match the sound pretty close with my ears with different settings on the plug. I personally found comparing it to the real thing, the EQ doesn't really match when comparing the same settings on the board. Does it sound like a real SSL, its debatable. I would think the most hyped plug-in ever. However, they take a TON of uad power to run. UAD 88RS, Neve 1073, SSL 4K: Both of these are awesome models. Softube Console 1: the 4K, 9K, and 8068 emulations are top notch and if i closed my eyes, i couldn't tell the difference between the real thing and the console.īrainworx Console_E: Again, sounds spot on and I LOVE having the G console compressor with the E channel EQ In general I have and like, in no particular order: A 4K sounds nothing like a 9k and a 88RS sounds nothing like a 8068/78 series Neve. The 1+2 outputs can be used for a stereo sum of the two L and two R outputs. Dual Pan can also be used as an A/B switch to send a CV or audio signal to two different inputs.Very subjective topic considering the different SSL/Neve consoles that are modeled vs just the term Best SSL/Neve. You can also morph seamlessly between them by manually adjusting the blend knob while the song is playing or control the knob with an LFO via CV.Ī two-channel, CV-controllable panning module, use Dual Pan to place one or two mono signals anywhere in the stereo mix panorama, such as two percussive sounds that the user wants to separate in the stereo image, for example.

For example, patch in two different waveforms from an oscillator - such as sine or saw - and use the blend knob to set the level between the two signals.
